How To Break Up With Your Hairstylist.
From: Tabitha
You’ve been there before, needing a new hairstyle or color. You
love your stylist and they always make you look great, but you feel
that little itch to try someone new. With all the options out there why
should you have to commit to just one person anyway? The girl that
does your friend’s hair always does such a wonderful job and she
charges less too. If this sounds like you, maybe you and your stylist
should break-up.
Breaking up with your stylist is not exactly a difficult, or easy, task. Of
course you could just stop showing up or booking appointments but
that really isn’t fair after all the time you‘ve invested into your
relationship. Of course a nice dinner isn’t necessary either, and it
really isn’t a situation requiring the typical “It’s not you, it’s me.” If you
are hoping to change looks without changing stylists, try having a
talk. Discuss your wants and needs, share your feelings about the
situation and try to just open up. Your soul mate stylist can’t read
your mind, so you need to express yourself. After this talk, if you’re
still feeling a little down about the whole issue, make some calls. Call
around for someone with the experience you need for the style you
want. Don’t expect the girl who specializes in choppy bobs to give
you the long layers and golden highlights of your dreams.
When you do find your new hair partner, don’t expect fireworks at
first. Anytime someone new gets their hands on you there is bound
to be a period of adjustment. Your new stylist will need several times
to get all the work done by your previous hairdresser out., especially
if you are only having an inch at a time taken off. That being said,
what if you made a mistake?
What if you researched and tested out a new stylist only to find that
they weren’t as good as your last? Maybe you just don’t have
chemistry with your new artist? Don’t stress yourself out and think
you have ruined the relationship. Hairstylists are a forgiving bunch. If
you’ve cheated and want to make up, there is only one thing to do.
To get back together, you need to confess your infidelity. Make your
next appointment with the stylist of your dreams and lay it all out. Tell
them the truth, that you went somewhere else and didn’t find what
you thought you would. After all, when it comes to your hair, your
stylist will know if the work you have is the work they did or not. Be
prepared to also make a few more visits to your good old stylist
when converting back, since there will be another’s vision in your
hair that must, again, be worked out.
